Aamchur/ Mango powder Chutney

Khatti meethi chutney is served in all types of chaats in India. Mostly, we all know it is made of tamarind (imli) but when you do not have tamarind at home, then how will you make the khatti meethi chutney??

So here's my recipe for khatti meethi chutney which is made with aamchur powder or mango powder and jaggery. Very easy and quick recipe, and I would say it tastes better than the imli ki chutney.

Ingredients for Aamchur Chutney:

  • Aamchur - 1/2 cup
  • Jaggery (Gur) - 150 gms
  • Sugar - 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds , roasted - 1tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt, as per taste
  • Rock salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Chaat masala - 1 tsp
  • Water - 5 to 6 cups

Let's follow the steps:

  • Take a steel sauce pan and put 5-6 cups of water and mix aamchur powder. Mix well.
  • Put on the flame and keep the flame low to medium.
  • Add the jaggery and keep stirring it with a spoon. Also, add all the spices and salt.
  • Let the chutney boil and stir it occasionally.
  • Taste the chutney, if required add sugar and salt. Mix it.
  • Chutney will change colour from light brown to dark brown colour.
  • Keep boiling and let the chutney get thicker. Once done, turn off the flame.
  • Your chutney is ready.
